Stephen Mitchell is a Melbourne-based partner and founder of MP Capital, and has extensive experience as an investment banker and CEO in resources, agriculture, corporate finance and stock exchange listings
After completing his studies, he spent much of the next 10 years as a natural resources specialist at investment banks and advisory firms in New York, London, Hamburg, Sydney and Melbourne
From 1999 to 2011, Stephen was Managing Director of Molopo Energy Ltd, an ASX-listed oil and gas company holding assets in Australia, Canada, USA, China, India and South Africa. Under his stewardship, Molopo expanded its market capitalisation from A$1m to at times in excess of A$400m
Following positions as both CEO and Chairman of successful listed public companies, Stephen Mitchell founded MP Capital with Nick Peterson in 2012
Stephen currently has numerous board positions on both public and unlisted companies across the resources, agricultural and financial services sectors
Stephen has a Master’s Degree in International Economics and Foreign Policy from Johns Hopkins University in Washington D.C.
